My story

I’m Emerald — an Ikebana practitioner and teacher trained in the Sogetsu School. I began my practice while living in Osaka many years ago, and now that I’m back in Oz, I love sharing this beautiful art form with others. I continue to be inspired by shapes, colours, and textures found in nature — from an interesting piece of bark to a fallen leaf or a single stem that catches my eye. I mainly use materials found in nature — things gathered on walks or from the garden — turning them into simple, expressive arrangements that bring calm and joy into everyday spaces.

Classes, workshops, special events

My classes are small, informal, and open to everyone — whether you’ve never arranged flowers before or already have some experience.

<aside> 🌺 BEGINNER FOUNDATIONS

A gentle intro to the basics of Sōgetsu-style Ikebana in a casual and friendly environment.

We follow the workbook and learn how to balance line, shape, and space using fresh, seasonal flowers and natural materials. 10 x lessons over a term on Monday eves. Students provide all materials. Choosing the right material is central to learning.

For returning students or those who have had previous ikebana tuition.

Experiment with branches, grasses, and found objects to create something unique and personal. 10 x lessons over a term on Monday evenings. Students provide all materials. Choosing the right material is central to your learning.

I’ll tailor a workshop that suits your group’s interests and experience level. All materials provided. You’ll always go home with a beautiful arrangement. I also do flowers for weddings. I can do it all, or I can help you bring your own vision to life.
